About us
Hi there! I’m Ben, the founder of Turn It Up Records.
I've been an avid vinyl collector for as long as I can remember, from a young age I would head to my favourite record store in my hometown of Harrogate to seek out the weeks new releases on CD to play in my bedroom, my pride and joy at the time. My obsession carried on into my teens, where I could go to HMV each week looking for the latest dance vinyls which I would play, pretending a was a DJ. Throughout the years & I’ve built a pretty extensive collection that I’m super proud of and have been a member of the online vinyl community for many years now and met some amazing music fans.
Sadly becoming a DJ never happened, however now I share my passion for music not just online but through playing the violin and teaching spin classes in a couple of local gyms - the music being the most important part to motivate anyone who comes.
Anyway back to my store, this store is my way of sharing that passion with you, and has always been part of my dream to own a record store. In my store you’ll find the latest releases and some exclusive gems that I’ve carefully curated. Whether you’re a long time vinyl enthusiast or just starting your collection, I’m here to help you find records that’ll make your heart sing.
Let's explore the magic of vinyl together and grow this amazing community. Happy spinning!
Cheers, Ben
Fave album growing up?
I hard one, however probably I’m not dead by P!nk influenced me a lot as a teen, also Living Proof by Cher.
Fave Eurovision track?
There is no contender for this one, of course, Loreen, however choosing between Euphoria and Tattoo is a choice I can’t make ha!
Fave group?
Clean Bandit have been up there for a long time now, the strings mixed with the dance beats just gets me.
Most recent fave albums?
As you can see I’m a big dance music fan, in 2023 Mid Air by Romy made the top spot for album of the year, no other came close, maybe Jessie Ware!
